How is the course structure and how many attempts do I have?

#attempts #structure

Depending on the product, our courses have a different structure, behavoir and number of attempts:

  • IPIMS Action Learning (AL) are topic-level courses broken-down into Subtopics (chapters). These can be viewed as thumbnails that you see when you enter a topic. The subtopics are organized into three main parts:

  1. The PRE-ASSESSMENT subtopic, that typically consists of ±20-25 multiple choice questions designed to test the user’s existing knowledge of the subject matter. We ask the user to go through the entire Pre-Assessment, review the answers at the end, and then brush up on any areas where the results indicate that additional work is needed. Questions that you get wrong will provide direct links to Background Knowledge and Reference material for you to go through during this first phase. The Pre-Assessment score is not recorded in the final course grade; it is simply meant to measure the current level of subject knowledge and provide a baseline for measuring how much is learned from the module.

  2. The ASSIGNMENTS subtopics: Each Assignment begins with a set of instructions. Note that at the right edge of the screen are links to Background Knowledge (similar to the technical reference library that one might refer to while working at an actual job assignment), and References & Field Data. These links are accessible throughout the Assignment.
Each assignment finishes with an Assessment: You may repeat the assessment up to two times. Note that to be able to repeat the tests you will need to finish all assignments in the module first.

  3. The POST-ASSESSMENT subtopic: The idea behind the Post-Assessment is to see how much the user has learned over the course of the Assignment, and to incorporate this learning into a final course score.
After completing the Assignment, you will have the opportunity to take the Post-Assessment. If you score below 80% on the first try, you will have the chance to retake the Post-Assessment and improve your score.

The final score for the course will be determined by averaging the scores of all assessments and the post-assessment.

  • IPIMS Backgound Learning (BL) consists of topic-level courses with subtopics, which can be viewed as thumbnails that you see when you enter a topic. Each subtopic includes a content section followed by an assessment. Learners have the option to repeat the assessment up to three times.

The final course score will be calculated by averaging the scores of all subtopics.
